International Welsh Polo - Wales v Great Britain

Wales made a valiant comeback against GB after being 3 goals down in the first and fought back to take the lead in what was an exhilarating game of Polo.  Unfortunately, the umpire ignored a clear foul in the closing minutes and Wales were finally beaten by only half a point.

Dear Harry & John,

I am writing to you from an aeroplane heading towards Atlanta.  I have just taken time out to read the program for the event this past weekend and I must say it was very emotional.  To be part of the day connected to such a worthy cause really is an honor and doing a small piece to help such bravery is the least I can do.  The plaque we received along with the official cap will take pride of place on the mantle in New York.

On a personal note I would like to say thank you so much for involving the Welsh Polo Team and for allowing us to be officially capped.  It really was the first game that I have every played when I could hear thousands of voices cheering us on. Having a team to associate with really worked especially linked to the occasion.  One thing that really stood in my mind was all of the Welsh Guards behind the goal really getting behind us at every break, coming over and speaking to us to gee us on.  They really wanted us to do well.

I hope the polo went down well.  We received a lot of compliments on the game as I believe the crowd could see how much the two teams wanted to win.  It still hurts that we could not make up that last ½ a goal.  On reflection, after being 3 down after the first, holding the GB team 4-2 in the last 3 chukkas was a spirited effort albeit short of the required.

I will sign off now but anything I can do for you please do not hesitate to ask.  Thank you both so much again, I dedicate my goal to the Welsh Guards ;o)

Best
